Scott McSpadden
Scott McSpadden is the oldest son of Clifford and Joanne. Born in 1988 he is the big brother to Glenn and Holly.
Scott graduated from Queens University in Belfast with an Honours degree in Marine Biology and a Masters in Sustainable Aquaculture. His interest in marine life was the platform for his ambition to work on the Great Barrier Reef. However, he discovered there were enough adventures to be had on the emerald isle without travelling to the far side of the world.
So, putting aside the alternative opportunity to count ells in Lough Neagh, he built upon his summer placements by continuing working in the family business GWA Supplies Limited, whilst he decided what his new profession would be.
As the business was both international and growing, it proved the ideal development opportunity for Scott. He set up the warehouse, developed relationships with our suppliers, developed and managed or Health and Safety, and discovered that he had a talent in hunting for new clients and doing deals. An all-rounder who discovered that the best model for him was to be based right here in Northern Ireland and reach out to suppliers and clients around the world.
Whilst developing the family business satisfied many of his yearnings there were others than needed to be invested in. One was his desire to help others, especially in the heat of the moment, and this is meant literally. Scott was recruited into the Fire and Rescue Service of Northern Ireland in 2016 and was the top recruit in his class. He revelled in the combination of the physical and mental challenges of fighting fires and rescuing people as part of a well-trained team. He was clearly made of the right stuff as he was promoted to Crew Commander in 2020 calling on him to take charge of the operation when he and his crew arrived at the scene.
Scott married his school sweetheart, Danielle in 2015. They are now the doting parents of Jacob and Jasmine.
Danielle has worked in the family business for one year longer than Scott, as she likes to remind him, and is such an amazing mother and Supply Chain Manager. Another great talent.
Scott was a founding member of the Rhythm Project in Banbridge, investing his Saturday nights to help get the teenagers off the streets in and away from the scourge of alcohol and drugs. He became one of the team Captains and ultimately one of the leaders in charge of all the volunteers and young people on the night. A great responsibility and another opportunity to rescue and inspire others.
As his experience and talents have developed Scott was promoted in 2022, to Managing Director of GWA Supplier Limited.
He is a Trustee in Practical Christian Outreach
