Project 14 - When a bible doesn’t just sit in a pew

Have you ever noticed how life gets very real at times? It normally accompanies a shock or a wakeup call, that jolts us out of the mundane and the ordinary. It is this time when we often have a much greater sense of God, our need for Him and His presence in our life.

So, when your country is at war, fighting to retain your independence and freedom, I imagine it feels very real. It is a time such as this that a church, can reach people at their point of need.

Vadym, our Programme Manager in Ukraine, is also a co-founder of a new church in his home city of Ternopil. Guess what their church is called? Would you believe it is called “New Church”. It’s kind of different in that it meets at unconventional times, like Saturday night, it appeals to younger adults, and it is practical in its outreach. Sounds exciting.

As they share Gods love in word and deed, people are discovering that Jesus is who He said He is and discovering salvation. Leading up to this and as they begin their faith journey, what a privilege it is to share the word of God with them in a form that is inviting and revealing.

It is our privilege to assist in this by providing the funds to Vadym to find just the right bible for the person that God has put in front of him.

One such bible was on display at the New Church when a young mother enquired how she could get a copy of it to share with her son. What a blessing for Vadym to tell her that it was hers. No money was necessary, it was a gift just waiting to be received.

Shortly after she walked away with the Bible, Vadym noticed her sitting sharing it with her son.

I have nothing more to say.
