Project 15 - Eyes in the Sky

If you have spent any time researching the war in Ukraine you will be aware and I’m sure amazed, at how drones are being used to identify the enemy’s location and movements. Thousands of commercial drones are in use and young men and women are on the front lines operating them.

One such young man was the husband of Olha.

Olha is a young lady in her early 20’s who we met on the journey out of Ukraine on the 26th January. She is the “girl on the train” who’s story is a perfect example of a “God incident”, completely aligned with our mission to do what we can, where we are, with what we have, to the person God puts in front of us, right now.

Olha’s husband was a drone operator on the front line, having volunteered and given up his job on the railway. He was killed in action on the 26th December, just one month before our train journey.

To tell the story of our meeting is a story worth telling, but not to be summarised in these few words.

Despite her loss and sacrifice, Olha is passionate to do what she can in the defence of her country and specifically to help her late husband’s colleagues in arms. She has already fund raised, sourced, and personally delivered night vision goggles and drones to them.

The drones they need are not all that easy to find, but she is good at sourcing. She recently found some in a warehouse in Dublin and jumped on a plane to get them. It was a pleasure to welcome her into our home and to share Gods love with her.

We also felt privileged to invest in a drone for her to add to her support to the men on the line. Invest because as she puts it “these drones save lives”.
