Project 22 - Technical Eyes in the Sky

Our “girl on the train” Olha continues to step out in faith to help the men who remain on the front line in the East of Ukraine. She feels a deep sense of duty and calling to continue what her husband began when he volunteered to protect her and their country. He paid the ultimate price on Boxing Day 2022 and since then she has been determined to support his colleagues on the front line.

Olha explains, that “the brigades are beginning to get more of the equipment they need, but it takes time and not everything they need is available. When I last spoke with them, they asked for help in getting thermal imaging drones. These enable them to spot enemy advances in poor visibility and darkness. They also enable mines to be identified as they cool down at a different rate to the ground. Simply put, these drones save lives”.

Olha launched a fund-raising project to raise the money to source one drone. Whilst she didn’t ask us to do likewise, it felt right that we match her fund raising and secure a second drone.

Her delight was moving. Not just because of the ability of save even more lives, but in her words, “thank you for not forgetting about Ukraine”

Olha travelled from Poland to the east of Ukraine to personally deliver the drones. Just stop and think about that. She doesn’t drive. It is a war zone she went to. How would we feel if she was our daughter?

I will leave the last word to one of the men who received the drones.

"Right now, Mavic 3T drones help to save Ukrainian lives since those are our true "tech eyes" instead of human ones. We want to thank you for your passion and the desire to help others and save lives. Thank you for all the support for Olha as a volunteer spreading the example of human-based actions ".
